MPSP seeks to work with like-minded schools who believe in the power of assessment and real-time data to improve teaching and learning. Through close, long-term collaboration, we ensure a shared commitment where both the school and our organization feel ownership over increasing student achievement and improving school performance. The SchoolsMPSP is currently working with twetny-one Boston-area public schools including:
MPSP also starting working with ten public schools in Washington, DC including:
What Some of our Clients Have to SayImmediately impacting instruction "Before MPSP, Excel Academy used results from the MCAS exam and a national norm-referenced exam in an attempt to have data drive our instruction. However, the significant delay between test administration and access to our results made it nearly impossible for this process to have a tangible impact. Because MPSP test results were returned so quickly, we were able to make adjustments in curriculum and instruction in a very timely and, therefore, meaningful way." Understanding student skills " I am able to use this information to diagnose my students’ preliminary skills in order to best allocate the precious time I spend with my students daily. MPSP is very helpful because it guides me in dictating how much time should be allocated to each given strand of standards as well as to the individual pieces that make up a given strand. I know where I need to focus the attention of my students to insure excellent performance, but, more importantly, I can teach them the foundational building blocks to be successful math students as they move into high school and college." Making programmatic changes " The bottom line is that MPSP data provides real and immediate snapshots of student performance. The administrative team can use this data for restructuring programs and (re)deploying resources and the teachers can use this data for planning lessons and tutoring groups." Improving alignment to the state frameworks " As a young school one of the greatest things MPSP allowed us to do last year was to see how aligned our curriculum was with the Massachusetts State Frameworks. We were able to see clear connections between the achievement of our students and how we taught certain concepts. Several teachers commented throughout the year that MPSP data was invaluable in helping them ascertain the appropriate level of rigor and depth of instruction that is appropriate for their grade level." Using the data to differentiate instruction " MPSP support allowed teachers to better differentiate instruction - providing instruction, tasks, and projects that were more specific to strengths and weaknesses of groups of students and also allowed us to support individual students during tutoring." Gaining context based on MPSP Network data "Because MPSP administers common interim assessments to all participating schools, the MPSP data is much more rich and meaningful than our data alone will ever be. We have found that by comparing our performance on each assessment item and on each standard with that of other participating schools, we are able to make much more informed judgments about the strengths and weaknesses of our own students." Increasing the confidence of first year teachers " The MPSP tests have been amazing for a number of reasons. Of course it feels good to perform well on the tests relative to other schools. This also gives me a confidence in myself in my first year that I would not otherwise have." |
